Do and dont of online dating
All your emails are read and the good TV is over for the night. You bring your laptop out of hibernation and start to scroll. Unsure what to do, you open that dating app and start to swipe.
DON’T: Dating in your 40s isn’t easy, however, do not be discouraged!Don’t: Have a picture of yourself 10 years younger and 100 pounds lighter. You aren’t fooling anyone and you will never score a second date if the guy thinks you are being untruthful. Those men assume you are high maintenance and demanding before they even talk to you! When I was dating, this was my biggest issue with men’s bios. This is the biggest online dating mistake I see from women over 40.DON’T: Make your bio all about what you want in a man. I do not need to know you don’t like fat chicks or that any woman that messages you must have all her teeth. We are so scared to take the leap into a real meeting even when there is a connection. It may seem fun and flirty to chat online every night, however, meeting someone after months of an online chat can be disappointing. Having a set of rules men must have before talking to you will eliminate not only great men who do not meet all your criteria, but it will also put off the men who do meet the criteria.
Your bio should draw people in and let them know what YOU are about. If after all that time there is no physical connection, the time wasted in exclusively chatting could have cost you the love of your life. DON’T: Advertising that you are playing the field isn’t necessary.Shut it down and pursue the one who caught your fancy.
