normalizing professor-student relationships, it isn't quite clear whether or not these kinds of connections are actually ethically OK.
Wondering if you can you date your RA, TA, or professor?
Even after she graduates, there is some stigma to dating a former student. I would say once she turns 21, that would be even better for you. It's not the age difference- I'm 19 and dated a 28 year and it was one of the best relationships I have had- but it can only be bad for your job.
On other message boards, most guys feel that women under 24 years old just come with a lot of drama, and under 21 is even worse. If you waited until she was completely out of the college you teach at, it would be one thing. Plus, you don't know if she is using you to further her educational needs.
Now, after the semesters over and final grades have been turned in, then I think its OK to contact someone and see if they want to meet for lunch. And unless you really like her a lot, I don't recommend dating her just for kicks or casually. For instance, if you and your TA really connect, are both of legal age and the attraction is consensual, it may be appropriate for you two to date after the class concludes.
